Quantitative Assessment of Trout Fish Spoilage with a Single Nanowire Gas Sensor in a Thermal Gradient

The response of a single tin oxide nanowire was collected at different temperatures to create virtual array sensors working as nano-electronic nose. nanowire, acting chemiresistor, first tested with pure ammonia and then used determine the freshness status trout fish (Oncorhynchus mykiss) in rapid non-invasive way. gas sensor reacts total volatile basic nitrogen, detecting samples less than 30 s. correlates well viable count (TVC), demonstrating that it is good (albeit indirect) way measuring bacterial population sample. nose not only able classify according their degree but also quantitatively estimate concentration microorganisms present. system stored classified them perfectly (100%), estimating log(TVC) an error lower 5%.
